What’s New at Tokyo Disney for Summer 2025

Helen Foster

The new summer ‘Cool Off’ season starts at Tokyo Disney on July 2nd and runs through the summer until September 15th – and a lot is happening. Here’s what to expect…

The point of Summer Cool Off is to help people visiting the park handle the fierce Tokyo summer heat by adding splash and cool zones to the park and the rides, and cooling drinks and summer-friendly snacks to the seasonal menu.

What’s Happening at Disneyland

Disneyland is going Baymax crazy with additions to the ride, merch, a parade and drinks. Plus, find out where to keep cool.

New Music at the Happy Ride with Baymax

The ride’s fun queue is getting an extra song and probably a dance routine to go with it. The song is by Japanese rock band Mrs GREEN APPLE and will be played randomly throughout the ride.

I’m sure by about day two, all the local TDR fans will know all the words and the moves.

Baymax’s Mission Cool Down

As a health care assistant, Baymax has a strong interest in keeping everyone healthy in the summer heat, so he takes centre stage at this cooling afternoon parade.

Baymax will try to keep everyone happy and energised. If he decides the crowd is looking less than energised, the parade will stop, and some lively music and refreshing water spritzes will pep you up!

There are only two floats in this parade, so it’s not going to be a mega-attraction, but it’ll be fun to catch if you need a cooling break.

Splash Zones are Coming to Toontown and Adventureland

“Get Soaked” Toontown

Splash zones will appear in three places around the Toontown area so kids (and adults) can cool off with cool mist or sprays of water. Find the fun at the Trolley Barn, Toontown Fire Department and the Fireworks Factory.

“Get Soaked” Adventureland

Water will shoot unexpectedly from parts of this new wet area.

Splash Mountain Gets Extra Splashy!

Splash Mountain turns into the ‘Get Soaked MAX Plus’ version for summer.

Last year’s version amped up the spray zones around the ride and the big splash at the end – and this year’s version says it’s a powered-up version of that!

You will get wet!

Watch out if you’re standing on the bridge watching the splash – onlookers might also get a bit damp!

Expect DPAs for this to run out faster than usual while the new version is on.

Top Tip

It’s possible to avoid all of these zones if you don’t want to get wet.

If you do, note that wearing swimsuits or removing clothes and shoes while in the Get Soaked Zones isn’t allowed. If your kids (or you!) are likely to get soaked, you might want to stash a change of clothes, or at least some dry socks, in a locker. Blisters will dampen your day faster than any of the soak zones can.

Baymax Snacks and Drinks

Two new Baymax summer drinks/snacks are launching in Disneyland.

At Plaza Pavilion, you’ll be able to buy cold udon noodles served in a Baymax cup. These come with different toppings, but the cutest is the Baymax boiled egg.

You’ll also find slushies topped with a little mochi Baymax (these are adorable) at various drinks stations around the park.

For some reason, the images on the Disney press releases are tiny (and it’s not technically legal for me to pull them from the website), so I can’t show you these, but you’ll find more pictures on this page.

Baymax Merch

Baymax fans will also love this – there’s new merchandise based on everyone’s favourite healthcare robot!

You can get glow-in-the-dark Baymax bangles that change colour as your arms move, to wear while dancing along on the ride, and in the queue. There’s a set of Baymax erasers that will probably be too cute to actually use to erase anything.

Summer t-shirts featuring images of Mickey and Minnie on the beach are also launching.

Again, the images on Disney press releases are tiny, but you’ll find pictures of the Baymax Merch on this page.

What’s New At DisneySea

DisneySea is also joining in on the summer fun – particularly regarding the shows.

Aquatopia “Get Soaked” Version

It’s not just Disneyland where you’ll get wet. Some of the DisneySea rides are also getting extra splashy! Including Aquatopia. Normally, on this ride, the spinning cars cleverly steer you away from the splashes and waterspouts in the ride at the last minute – but those days are gone, my friend!

Aquatopia will be added to the list of rides offering the free 40th Anniversary Priority Pass during this time, as queues will be longer than normal. Priority Passes always go quickly, so if you want one, grab it early.

“Get Soaked” Caldera Corridor

Located between Mysterious Island and Port Discovery, this walkway with misters and sprays will act as another cool-down zone.

“Get Soaked” Harbor Splash

This is where the press release on the summer attractions uses the word ‘drenched’!

Water will regularly erupt from Mediterranean Harbour, soaking those in the splash zone! Watch where you’re walking if you’re around Piazza Topolino and Lido Isle so you don’t get caught unexpectedly!

Six times a day, the new song by Mrs. GREEN APPLE will also be played at DisneySea, accompanied by more water effects, in an event they’re calling Splash Time. The exact phrase they use is ‘an even more invigorating water spray will accompany the music.’ I can’t wait to see this one!

Watch Out For Your Belongings

Disney says to protect electronic gadgets or anything else that won’t enjoy getting wet in the “Get Soaked” Zones as there’s a chance they will get wet.

If you’re entering them, put your phone or anything else you want to protect in a bag—ideally, a waterproof one.

Remember you must carry your passport in Japan, and it won’t like water! Seal it in a waterproof bag like a Ziplock inside your normal bag to protect it from getting wet.

New Shows are Coming

There’s a bit of a show shake-up happening at DisneySea this Summer.

Dockside Splash Remix

This new show will replace Jamboree Mickey for the summer, but don’t worry if you’ve learned the JM song – an EDM version forms part of this performance! Expect dance music jams with Mickey, Minnie, and friends, along with some special spark and splash effects!

The show will be performed three times a day, late afternoon and early evening. Check the app for the exact schedule on the day you visit.

This will be an Entry Request show, but also offer DPA. However, if the stage layout is the same as Jamboree Mickey, you will be able to view it from the walkway to the SS Columbia or the side area where the people who want to dance along watch the show.

Dreams Take Flight Launches

This new permanent show launches at DisneySea on July 16th at the Hanger Stage. It features Mickey and other Disney friends working together to create an aeroplane, rhythmically depicted through song and dance. This will be an Entry-Request experience – expect it to be very popular. Entry Requests are free and offered by lottery, so they’re always worth trying to get.

If you don’t get one, you can also book a DPA for Dreams Take Flight – these cost 2500 yen.

Don’t Forget to Buy Your Disney Tickets

If you’re within two months of your trip, why not order them now so it’s done? Unlike the Disney site, Klook takes all foreign credit cards. Plus, if you’re buying other tours or tickets, add the code JAPLANEASEKLOOK at checkout and you could save up to 10 per cent.

T&Cs apply; Tokyo Disney tickets and USJ tickets are not available for discounts.

But It’s Farewell to Big Band Beat

This is one of Tokyo Disney’s most loved shows, and it’s been running 20 years – but it will end on September 30th 2025.

A celebration of the show will be running over the summer, and the performances are likely to be immensely popular as the local Disney guests come to see it for the last time. If you’re visiting over the last few days, expect this to be very busy.

Like Dreams Take Flight, Big Band Beat is an Entry Request Experience, but DPAs are also available for 2500 yen.

Summer At the Hotels

The outdoor pools will be open to guests at the Disney Ambassador, Disneyland and Miracosta Hotels (starting July 12th).

Normally, you can only swim in the pool of your own hotel, but, on the Japanese website, it says the pool at the Disney Ambassador will be open to non-hotel guests in the evening. Ask your hotel about this to find out if you can visit.

Note: the pools may charge a resort fee, so check this if you are booked into one of these three hotels.

Various hotel restaurants will serve dishes and sets based on the Sunny Sunny theme with lots of pineapples, palm trees and flamingoes!

Changes to Happy Entry Rules

In less welcome news, there are changes to the Happy Entry rules as the entrance to DisneySea is being renovated. If you’re traveling from September, it’s important to note that only Hotel Miracosta and Fantasy Springs Hotel will offer Happy Entry to DisneySea – Ambassador will not offer this while the work is happening.

New Toy Story Perk

If you stay at Toy Story Hotel from June 1st 2025, you can enter DisneySea through the gate usually reserved for Fantasy Springs Hotel guests.

Sadly, this isn’t a sneaky way to get to Frozen fast, as this perk only begins at 10 am, but, it will be very handy for nipping back to the hotel for a nap, or leaving the park at night. Make sure you check with the hotel (or at the bottom of this page) about the exact timings that the gate is open at park closing as there are some rules in place.

Summer Ticket Changes to Know About

During all the summer fun, Tokyo Disney has reintroduced the Park Hopper Ticket, which allows you to visit two parks in one day, and also changed the rules about using the Evening Passes.

You can now use both Weekend and Weekday passes on any day – the difference is the time that you will be able to enter the park.

See more about this, and check out the most economical way to visit both parks in one day (if you choose to) in our longer guide to whether the Park Hopper Tickets are worth it for international guests.

And I think that’s everything they’ve announced so far. It sounds like a fun Summer.
